Joe Smith

Joe Smith is a Managing Director at ACT Capital Advisors, bringing more than two decades of experience in mergers and acquisitions, strategic advisory, and capital markets across the Healthcare and Consumer Products sectors. Throughout his career, Joe has supported transactions totaling over $50 billion, including approximately $20 billion in buy- and sell-side mandates where he played key leadership roles from strategy through close.

Before joining ACT, Joe served as a Partner at a fast-growing, stealth-mode private equity firm focused on healthcare investments. He is also the Founder and Managing Director of BioVerity Partners, LLC, a firm specializing in fractional strategic advisory and transactional support for small and mid-sized healthcare, biopharma, and investment organizations. Joe has held senior leadership roles across six biopharma companies, consistently contributing to accelerated growth, successful exits, and improved operational readiness for future transactions.

Joe’s earlier experience includes roles in transaction-focused management consulting with Navigant and Easton Associates, as well as capital markets positions at Lazard and Bear Stearns—experience that has equipped him with a well-rounded perspective across both operating and advisory environments.

Joe holds both a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, along with a Certification in Corporate Finance and Accounting from the Wharton School. While at UPenn, he was also a member of the university’s nationally ranked NCAA Division I wrestling team.
