Chris Sheppard

Chris Sheppard is a Managing Director at ACT Capital Advisors and brings more than a decade of experience advising business owners through mergers, acquisitions, and exit strategies. He has successfully closed over twenty transactions across a broad range of industries, including online retail, distilleries, manufacturing, oil and gas, renewable energy, building materials, SaaS, healthcare and professional services, construction, logistics, wholesale/distribution, consumer product design, and metal fabrication.

Before entering investment banking, Chris served as a combat engineer officer in the United States Marine Corps, achieving the rank of Major. His military career included two combat deployments to Iraq, where he participated in the 2003 invasion and the Second Battle of Fallujah in 2004. Earlier in his career, Chris worked as a reporter for The Arizona Republic, building a foundation in investigative research and communication.

Chris holds dual bachelor’s degrees in Economics and Political Science from the University of Washington. While serving in the Marine Corps, he earned a Master of Mass Communication from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. He later returned to the University of Washington to complete a Juris Doctor, an MBA from the Foster School of Business, and an LL.M. in Taxation.

He also holds the Certified Merger & Acquisition Advisor (CM&AA) and Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA) designations. In 2012, Chris and his business partner won the University of Washington Business Plan Competition Grand Prize, outperforming more than 100 competing teams.

Outside of his professional work, Chris is an avid traveler who has visited more than forty countries and lived on four continents. In 2022, he spent six weeks in Ukraine and Poland delivering humanitarian and medical support to refugees following the Russian invasion.
